One of the most important maritime museums of the world, was opened in 1863 in the Palacio das Laranjeiras. It contains, among many other items of great interest, a magnificent collection of charts and atlases of the great days of Portuguese navigation and discovery in the 15th and 16th century. Ship modelers and lovers of them be warned: amount and quality are so incredible that you will visit this museum again and again!		visit!
